Haiku Reviews: Sun Run 2010

Yesterday marked a triple serving  of excitement for Vancouver: Mother’s Day, the Canucks’ big win, and the 2010 Vancouver Sun Run.sunrunSince Eudora’s already posted tribute to the moms and I’m far from qualified from giving justice to the Canucks’ game last night, how ’bout a series of haiku reviews of my Sun Run experience? (A bizarre take, I know. Sun Run? + Haikus? And yes, I am aware of the 5-7-5, primarily-about-nature dealio. But, just for fun, roll with it, man. The sun’s got me delirious with crazy ideas.)

Aside from my humble haikus, please enjoy some snaps I took along the way. These cuties I caught are a newly-wed couple who chose to spend their first day of married life doing the Sun Run! Neato idea.

My “grassroots” promo team (baby bro & bf) and I found ourselves alongside them & their barrage of wedding photographers throughout the run.

I also got a semi-decent shot of one of the many costumed Sun Runners, a shark! (I hope someone grabbed some water for him; being a shark and all, running in the sun for 10km without the luxury of arms could pose challenges.)

By the 6km or 7km check-point I got a chance to stop by 100.5 The Peak FM‘s set-up. I got a free CD of The Peak Performance Project, a sweet pen and a balloon! Believe it or not, finishing the last 3 – 4km with a balloon in hand made the day that much sweeter.

I love the Sun Run and all healthy community movements. This year was a lot of fun; I’m hoping to crush my previous times and training for next year. Hopefully my co-runners will be up for it! We crossed the finish with a fun-lovin’ 2 hour + race time. We walked. It was my lil bro’s 1st Sun Run :)  Congrats, little buddy!

Minus me forgetting my bf’s jacket at English Bay and back-tracking 2km  to get it, this year’s Sun Run was awesome.

‘Til next year!
