Certain people, events, fortunes and mishaps in our lives become a big part in whom and what we are destined to become.Meet MC Static – writer, producer and performer on the rise. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC; Harvy Chahal found his love for hip hop as a child. “I got into the passion with my older brother, he used to play a whole bunch of hip hop music when I was a small kid and I was like “man what is this stuff!” and I got really into it at a young age bumpin’ a whole bunch of stuff. I met up with my buddy Shawn in grade 8 and he had the same passion I did in music, so he used to drop the beat box and I would spit lyrics and it all started from there…” Mimicking iconic rappers like Twista had earned him the name ‘Static’ after acquiring a unique style of rap spitting verses over fast techno beats.Little did he know, reality set in quick upon graduation and music was put on back burner. Fast forward five years of time well spent in completing trade school, Harvy Chahal earned himself a welding ticket and what his parents would call a successful career in the trades. Successful none the less, but when it came down to happiness and mind over matter, Harvy reached out to find who he KNEW he wanted to be: a performer. “Now I’m back to where I was… back to my roots…” he says, as he speaks enthusiastically about stepping into the scene.Setting the bar for himself as a performer, Static put his hard earned money and valuable hours in the studio until he felt he found the perfect sound. “If you’re gon’na come out now, you got’ta come up strong, you can’t come out half-ass ‘cause there’s so many people around here that are in rap.”With the recent drop of his debut single and music video, “Up that Pole”, the launch of his official website www.mc-static.c om and promoting his new tracks, it’s no surprise that the hard work put in gives him back the opportunity to be on the come up fast! All of which made things much more official he says, however it was the chance to showcase himself on stage as an opening act for Joey Styles where his dreams simply turned reality for the rising performer. “Being on stage gave me so much pride and energy. The crowd pumped me and made me spit my lyrics like I haven’t spit before. Adrenaline was running through my body and it felt so great to show people my talent.”“My goal is to do a show every month. So you will see me soon”, says Static about the near future.
