Fresh off the Boat Comedy Jam Version 3.0

DSC_3022Last Monday was not your average, dull and dreaded start of the week type of night. In fact, I’d say it was probably the most anticipated Monday night for many, since MTV shifted The Hills to a Tuesday.Last Monday was the Fresh off the Boat Comedy Jam showcased at one of Vancouver’s finest performance venues, The Biltmore Cabaret. A Comedy show influenced by the ‘corky-ness’ of Filipino culture while preying on its roles and stereotypes and mixing it up with today’s North American upbringings.  Lead by all-around, multi-talented entertainers Chris Casillin, David Dimapilis and VJ Delos Reyes, the Fresh off the Boat Comedy Jam is a MUST SEE; even if you’re not Filipino, you’ll be left laughing at the friend who is!Mind you, with a rather unfortunate announcement of being short one man of their usual act on Monday, the show still went on. Chris and David, without a doubt gave the audience what they came for and had the crowd laughing so hard leaving them holding on to their stomachs and wiping off their tears! From the funniest improv exercises that involved audience participation, to comedy written digital sketches made up of short story acts, it sure would have shown Nick Cannon a thing or two about ‘Wildin’ Out’!However, The Fresh off the Boat Comedy Jam was not all about comedy. It was also a night filled with impeccable talent as they added performances from the talented and sexy female dancers of SVS style, and Vancouver’s most sought after hip hop lyricists, The Boombox Saints. This Monday night was nothing but successful. Chris and David stole the stage with an exceptional job doctoring their audience with the world’s greatest medicine: laughter.
