Craft Show + Party = Make it!
As its website sums up: Craft Show + Party = Make it!The cold and the rain didn’t stop the fun from taking place in Vancouver this weekend! On November 20th-22nd, the Make it! The Handmade Revolution made its way to The Croatian Cultural Centre on Commercial Drive as the largest event of its kind in Western Canada. You couldn’t miss it on Commercial Drive as the street was lined with parked cars bringing in tons of people from all over the Lowermainland. Not only did this craft fair create lucrative opportunities for Canada’s hottest urban artists and designers, it gave shoppers the opportunity to experience buying authentic and uniquely crafted products from artisans all over Canada. There was something for everyone, from enamel jewellery and accessories, to hand made mineral eye cosmetics, to peacock feather headbands, to—get this—purses made from vinyl records of classic hits! And this just skims the surface of what the event had to offer. Ever been somewhere that lets you eat tapas, have a couple drinks, and paint with acrylics on a canvas easel…All in one? Well now you can at Raw Canvas, one of the hip spots in Vancouver advertised at Make it! And if you got tired from the shopping for handmade one-of-a-kind arts, crafts, and gifts, you could hit up the bar for a drink…or two…or three…Or just “chillax” to the music the DJ was spinning. There were definitely good times to be had at this revamped craft show which gave off a funky, indie inspired vibe and showcased many impressive entrepreneurs exploding with creativity, talent, and success.
