Vancouver Fashion Week: Kersh S/S 2010 Collection
We found ourselves again among the fashionistas at Vancouver Fashion Week last weekend. Colin Campbell’s design showroom became a makeshift runway set and proved a much more fitting and appropriate showcase than the venue at BC Fashion week. We attended Kersh’s show on Saturday in the unveiling of their Spring/Summer 2010 Women’s collection. The designers describe their clothing as west coast, natural, mellow beauty and the upcoming line perfectly exudes that. The pieces all had a fairly casual air to them but not in a dull sense by any means (don’t go thinking TNA or Lululemon), all of it was handcrafted with detail; nothing plain. It was very hippie-not-hipster inspired with eccentric bathing suits and colorful shawls. The show had a very summery, rock flare to it, with models walking up and down the catwalk barefoot in flowing, airy dresses that any girl in Vancouver could wear in July. That laid-back, tomboy, Americana vibe was definitely emanated in the pieces, I haven’t seen girls look so appealing in workwear jumpsuits and cowgirl outfits.
